Project Overview
Undertook Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for a major Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) infrastructure project comprising a 4.5 km sub-sea pipeline, 28,000 MT storage facility, distribution terminal, and bottling plant in Mombasa.
Our Approach
Delivered three coordinated EIAs covering each component of the integrated system, ensuring alignment across marine, terrestrial, and industrial risk environments.
Environmental & Marine Assessments
- Marine Ecology Studies
Evaluated potential impacts on coastal and marine ecosystems, including seabed disturbance and aquatic biodiversity.
- Baseline Environmental Studies
Conducted air quality, noise, soil, and hydrological assessments to establish pre-development conditions.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Conducted consultations within a 5 km radius project footprint
- Engaged regulatory agencies, port authorities, and affected communities
- Developed a formal Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP) and grievance mechanism
Impact Assessment & Mitigation Planning
- Identified risks associated with marine construction and LPG handling
- Developed mitigation measures for spill prevention, safety, and environmental protection
- Integrated findings into regulatory submission documentation
Impact & Value Delivered
- Secured EIA License from NEMA
- Enabled the development of critical national energy import infrastructure
- Strengthened compliance with IFC-aligned environmental safeguards
- Reduced marine and operational risk exposure
